Back to hockey 2018

Every year Felixstowe Hockey Club support the nationwide campaign of Back to Hockey. We run a series of six free hockey sessions where anyone can attend (please note children under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an adult) – last year we had parents and children giving hockey a go together! You can try just one session or come along to all six, it’s completely up to you.

During these FREE sessions you will be shown all the basic hockey skills and even get to play micro games – so no matter whether this is your first time picking up a hockey stick or it’s the first time in twenty years our sessions are suitable for all ages and abilities. You’ll need to wear trainers and clothing suitable for exercise (shin pads are recommended – perhaps borrow from a friend?) but we can lend you a stick. These sessions are open to men and women, boys and girls and are absolutely free. At the end of the six weeks you will be given information on how to join our club if you wish to continue with the sport – but there is no pressure to join, just come and join in the fun.

Sessions start on Tuesday 10 July 2018 at 7pm (click here to find out where we are in Felixstowe), no need to book, just turn up. If you have any questions please contact us via our Facebook page.

So what do people think about our Back to Hockey sessions?

Last year Rachel and Carly came along and loved it so much they joined the club and are now regular team players…IMG_3275

Rachel says “My job requires a lot of concentration and can be intense, so taking stresses out on a hockey ball is exactly what I need after a long week! I’d played hockey a long time ago and wanted to give it another try after seeing the Olympic success. Hockey is great for my mental wellbeing and I absolutely love being part of a team!”

Carly says “I’m a mother of two and I decided it was about time I did something for myself. I’d never played before but Back to Hockey was so much fun! Not only is hockey great exercise and lots of fun but it’s time for me and I’ve met some friends for life. I’ve loved every minute of my first full season as a member of Felixstowe Hockey Club”
