After a weekend marked by free scoring wins for the Women's and Men's first teams, solid wins for both the 'Seconds'; and the Mens thirds a securing draw, the league tables showin all these teams well placed in the leagues . The Women's Thirds are within a point of mid-table , while the Men's development team secured their first point.
The Women's and Men's first teams both secured high scoring wins with both coming from behind to do so! The women posted six goals to triumph 6:1 against IES, while the Men won 7:2, posting goals more or less every 10 minutes against a Norwich Dragons side which had moved down a division. The men will travel to Harleston to maintain a 100% record; and the Women will travel to Colchester for a 'Top of the table' clash!
Both second teams secured satisfying wins. The Men's Twos won 3:2 against Norwich Dragons 2s for a second time with another late winner from Brando in a close match. The women were convincing winners away to IES Threes, scoring 3 and maintaining a clean sheet.
Both teams now travel to Colchester with a chance for the men to leapfrog the opposition (both are on 6 points) and the women just 1 point behind their opposition.
The clubs third teams were unabale to secure wins but can reflect on the promise in their respective performances. The men came away from Norwich Dragons with a hard-earned point and might consider themselves unlucky to have not gained a win. Still, a with a number of younger players featuring, the teams finds itself in 5th position after promotion last season so much to be positive about. Our women's thirds fielded another new player in Libby Harris( who did herself proud) and held their own in possession and territory. However, they just could not convert periods in the opposition 'third' into goals and did not come away with the rewards their efforts deserved. With more experience and a focus in training, the points will come! The men will travel to BSE and the women to Colchester.
Finally, the Men's fourth development team gained a point away to BSE sixes, conceding late but playing well in a thoroughy sporting and enjoyable game. A big well done to all the younger players for their efforts. Thanks also to Mave and Diggory for 'doubling up' and providing some very welcome support. The team will now play at home to IES 4 and a stiff test!
