Felixstowe hockey youth success celebrated with help from England star

Youth award winners with George Pinner v2

Felixstowe Hockey Club’s youth section celebrated a fantastic season on Saturday with help from Olympic star and Team GB Hockey Goalkeeper George Pinner.

George visited the club to hand out the end of season youth awards, as well as present the very first George Pinner trophy for the best up and coming youth goalkeeper.

He spoke to the gathered youngsters and their families about the importance of enjoying their sport and training hard, and told the eager listeners about how it feels to play for your country. He then stayed to pose for photographs and sign autographs.

Rebecca Williams, head of youth at Felixstowe Hockey Club said: “Our youth members were thrilled to have Suffolk boy George present their awards and have a chance to talk to such a star about hockey.

“We have had a fantastic season with lots of youth success including having our u-10 mixed team crowned champions of the Suffolk Youth League, and yet another intake pushing us over 100 members. It was hard to pick just a few winners as they have all improved so much!”
